planet Mars." News followed that a "huge, flaming object had fallen to Earth on
a farm in the neighborhood of Grovers Mill New Jersey. A militia was sent to the
scene and horrified radio listeners heard it wiped oat before their very ears by
what appeared to be a visitor from another planet.
More landings were soon reported in Buffalo Chicago St. Louis...An anxious radio
audience came to the awful conclusion that the Earth was the target of a
full-scale invasion by visitors from the planet Mars!
